Internationalization of Brazilian fruits bears fruit in the 1st half of 2024: check expectations for the coming months
The Frutas do Brasil project, an internationalization initiative by the Brazilian Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruits and Derivatives (Abrafrutas), in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), will be present at important international events in the second half of this year. These meetings are a true global showcase for fresh Brazilian products, highlighting the quality and diversity of Brazilian fruits.
According to Jorge de Souza, project manager at Abrafrutas and executive manager of Frutas do Brasil, distributors can expect quality fruit that is safe for consumption, with the sector’s commitment to good ESG practices, in addition to respect for importers and customers. He highlights that the sector has a process of continuous improvement in operations, with the ultimate goal of achieving excellence in exports of fresh fruit and derivatives.
“The first events of the year were fully attended, with the receptivity of importers being excellent and great business opportunities identified in the target markets”, he says. And he adds: “Fruit Logistica, the world’s largest fruit growing fair, generated millions of dollars in business between exporters and importers. Furthermore, the Frutas do Brasil festivals in Canada and at Brazilian embassies in London and Paris also achieved their objectives, identifying new and important customers for Brazilian fruit exports and providing valuable learning for participating Brazilian businesspeople.”
For the second half of the year, expectations are positive, with the continuation of the strategy of participation in the Asian market. The Frutas do Brasil Festival Mumbai, in India, which will take place between the 26th and 30th of August, promises many business opportunities, especially for apples, avocados and lemons from Brazil. Participation in Asia Fruit Logistica 2024, Fruit Attraction 2024 and the IFPA event in Atlanta, in the United States, are crucial to strengthening the Brazilian presence in these markets.
According to Jorge, Brazilian fruit growing can supply these markets all year round, with quality fruit that is safe for consumption. Brazil stands out as the largest and best supplier of tropical fruits, offering a great diversity of species and varieties.
“The sector’s commitment to quality fruits, ESG practices, respect for importers and customers, and the continuous search for excellence in operations and exports are the pillars that support the participation of the Frutas do Brasil project in international events this second semester”, he ends.
