Citrolima e Pacheco: a successful case in the production of citrus fruits
The story of one of Brazil’s leading producers of citrus fruits began in 2011 in the district of Nova Cardoso, Itajobi, in the interior of São Paulo, which is also known as the Lime Capital of the World. At the time, three friends who were looking for the best for their families decided to turn their dreams into reality through entrepreneurship.
The company is a participant in the Frutas do Brasil project — an internationalization program promoted by the Brazilian Association of Fruit and Derivatives Exporters (Abrafrutas) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).
With determination, the trio of founders of Citrolima and Pacheco started the venture with a small team and a modest rented packing house. Despite the adversities, their dedication and willpower to provide quality and commitment to customers led the company to exponential growth in just a few years of operation.
In January 2015, the company began construction of its own packing house, which underwent several expansions over time and, today, operates in the commercialization of fruits, with limes being its main product, throughout Brazil and abroad.
Years went by and the mission has remained the same since day one: the unwavering commitment to delivering the best fruit to its customers. In this way, demand has grown steadily, going hand in hand with the company’s success. Today the company has almost 100,000 trees and over 300 hectares.
To ensure quality at all stages of the fruit production process, the company relies on the expertise and professionalism of a dedicated team, with more than 150 direct employees, who work from planting to logistics.
More than success in their work, Citrolima e Pacheco believes that their involvement in social causes, and their support for the progress of the community, are fundamental beyond the structures and processing capacity, where they expand their activities in other areas to contribute to the progress of the city of Nova Cardoso.
Citrolima e Pacheco is also engaged in sustainability and ESG initiatives, including in its planning actions for efficient management of water resources (irrigation), use of renewable energy (solar energy), replacement of diesel machines with electric machines, partnerships with local communities, preservation of areas of native vegetation and reverse logistics of waste and packaging. “The important and persistent work of Citrolima e Pacheco contributes to Brazil’s image of excellence as a world producer and exporter of fruit”, comments Jorge de Souza, international project manager at Abrafrutas.
