The price of the fruit goes up because there is a huge demand in this time of the year. The publication also says that the famous guacamole can cost more this season, considering that the avocado prices have reached the peak.
Brazil is one of the major avocado producers in the world. In 2018, more than 235 thousand tons were produced – the expectation of the Brazilian Association for Avocado Producers (ABPA) is to double the production in the following years.
The main producing states are: São Paulo (21,216 t), Minas Gerais (50,751 t), Paraná (20,003 t), Rio Grande do Sul (4,520 t) and Distrito Federal (3,050 t). The world´s production is around 5.9 million tons.
