The science behind superfoods

Nature offers us a true treasure in fruits. In addition to being tasty, they are rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants, which are essential to keep our bodies healthy and full of energy, and of course, some of them must be part of our daily life.

A recent study from William Paterson University in New Jersey underscored the five healthiest fruits, after having assessed the concentration of 17 nutrients — including vitamins A and B12 — in relation to the amount of calories present in each food. These fruits were pointed out as true superfoods, ideal for a balanced and nutritious diet.

🍋 Lime
Lime is on the top of the list. Rich in vitamin C, it is essential for boosting the immune system. It also contains calcium, magnesium, potassium, and fiber, in addition to being indispensable for collagen production, which is essential for our skin and joint health.

🍓 Strawberry
In the second place, we have strawberries, the most famous berry. It is an excellent source of folic acid, iron, magnesium, and calcium. Iron, in particular, plays a crucial role in red blood production and oxygen transportation in the body.

🍊 Orange
Oranges occupy the third place. In addition to being widely known for its high concentration of vitamin C, it is rich in potassium and magnesium, which helps to regulate various cellular and biochemical functions in the body.

🍇 Grapefruit (red and pink)
Grapefruits, especially the red and pink varieties, are in the fourth place. These fruits stand out for the presence of vitamin A (or beta-carotene), important for eye health and for boosting the immune system.

🍇 Blackberry
Closing the list, blackberries are rich in calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, and manganese. In addition to contributing to bone health, they are a great ally in preventing premature aging, thanks to its powerful antioxidant action.

These fruits, when regularly added to your diet, can make a substantial difference in promoting health and well-being. Whether fresh, in juices or desserts, these delights show that it is possible to combine flavor and nutrition in each meal.
