Brazilian producers close contracts worth more than USD 100 million at Fruit Logistica 2023

Friday February 17th, 2023

Last week, Brazilian fruit exporters participated in the largest fair in the global fruits, vegetables, flowers and vegetables chain production, Fruit Logistica. The event, which takes place every year in Berlin, Germany, hosted more than 2,610 exhibitors from 92 countries, including Brazil. The country was represented by a delegation composed of 46 companies.

The Frutas do Brasil program — the export program of the Brazilian Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruit and Derivatives (Abrafrutas), with the support from the

Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) — supported the participation of Brazilian businessmen who declared to have closed approximately USD 105 million in export contracts by the end of the fair. The program carries out promotional actions, such as the participation in business events and other tasks to defend the sector’s interests in the international market, all with the goal of expanding the export of Brazilian fruit.

Brazil also marked its presence with an exclusive stand at the fair, located in Hall 23 of Messe Berlin. During Fruit Logistica, the space hosted several buyers and commercial visitors interested in Brazilian fruits. On the fair’s second day, the stand was visited by the Brazilian ambassador in Germany, Roberto Jaguaribe. He was able to taste several recipes with Brazilian fruits, all made by the hands of the chefs Luciana Berry and César Scolari.

According to Abrafrutas’ president, Guilherme Coelho, the participation of exporting producers in Fruit Logistica is extremely important. He explains that in addition to all the big deals signed during the three days of the fair, it was also possible to identify which markets can receive Brazilian fruits and those that have not yet been reached.

“We have a very high quality product. Our fruits are very successful in Europe, as they are distinguished by their flavor and quality, which makes Brazil a great competitive market. The country has the potential to export even more and we are attentive to international requirements, such as certifications”, explained the president. He also added that “in addition to business, the fair is a great opportunity to feel the atmosphere of each importing country, in order to understand their challenges and needs. In this way we manage to put the markets in which we do not yet export on our radar”.
