In Brazil, one of the largest fruit producers in the world, regenerative agriculture has emerged as a solution that combines productivity, environmental conservation and innovation. This cultivation model has the potential to transform the way we produce and consume fruit, ensuring not only food security but also the preservation of natural resources for future generations.

Brazil is already a leader in sustainable agricultural practices, and regenerative agriculture further reinforces this role. This set of practices seeks to restore natural ecosystems, increasing soil fertility, biodiversity and carbon sequestration capacity. Among the main actions are crop rotation, which consists of changing the cultivation of different fruits to improve soil health, and composting, which uses organic waste to enrich the soil with nutrients.

Jorge de Souza, technical manager at Abrafrutas, spoke a little about Brazilian processes in the field.

“Regenerative agriculture not only preserves the environment, but also ensures that the fruits of the future are grown sustainably, respecting biodiversity and contributing to the health of the planet. Brazil is on the right track and the future of global fruit farming will be in Brazilian fields.”

The production of fruits such as açaí, cashew, mango and pineapple is an example of how the sector can combine innovation and sustainability. A notable case is the cultivation of cocoa in Bahia, where agroforestry systems (integration of fruit trees into natural systems) have generated economic gains while promoting the conservation of the Atlantic Forest. This model reinforces that, in addition to meeting the growing global demand for sustainable food, Brazil stands out as a reference in agricultural practices that benefit both producers and the environment.
