Fruit Logistica 2024: Brazilian delegation with 39 companies lands in Germany for the event
Brazil is gearing up to make its presence felt at the upcoming edition of Fruit Logistica, one of the most relevant international events in the fruit sector, scheduled to take place in Berlin from February 7 to 9, 2024.
With a diverse and robust delegation, the program is supporting 39 participants from the Frutas do Brasil project — the export program of the Brazilian Association of Fruit and Derivatives Producers and Exporters (Abrafrutas), in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) — at the event.
Representatives of the companies heading to Germany in February are eager for the opportunity to conquer new markets and boost their sales during Fruit Logistica. These positive prospects reflect the growing recognition of the quality of Brazilian fruits in global markets and the extraordinary growth of exports in 2023, surpassing the $1.2 billion revenue mark.
In addition to supporting the delegation, Frutas do Brasil is also promoting the Brazilian booth at the event, located in Hall 23, Booth B01. The expectations for attendance couldn’t be better: the Fruit Logistica organization expects to host up to 90,000 people from 137 countries at the Messe Berlin, a 47% growth compared to the number of visitors at the 2023 event.
According to Jorge de Souza, project manager at Abrafrutas, Brazil’s presence at Fruit Logistica goes beyond fruit sales. “We seek to strengthen relationships with customers and partners, discuss future trajectories, and implement improvements for the coming year considering potential changes in consumer behavior,” he explains. He adds, “We are excited about the proximity of the event, with the confirmed participation of 39 exporting producers showcasing their products. For this year, we aim to expand the presence of delicious Brazilian fruits in various markets around the world. The uniqueness of our fruits and our production calendar is something we want to highlight.”
Exports
The international scenario looks promising for Brazilian fruits in 2024. Fruit exports in 2023 saw a significant increase in revenue of 26.73% compared to the previous year. In terms of volume, there was a growth of 6%, reaching over one million tons of fruits sent to the international market.
Avocado, in particular, has emerged as a standout fruit, showing remarkable growth in both production and exports over the past year. It registers a significant increase of over 128% in value and a surprising 143% in volume in 2023 compared to 2022.
“The diversity of fruits grown in Brazil, combined with the constant improvement of production technologies and commitment to the quality and safety of consumer products, has been crucial in this achievement,” concludes Jorge.
