Brazil projects record growth in 2025 harvest and strengthens fruit exports
The 2025 Brazilian harvest promises to be one of the most expressive in history. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the national production of fruits, cereals, legumes and oilseeds is projected to reach more than 322 million tons, an increase of 10.2% compared to 2024. This advance also benefits the fruit sector, which has been expanding its share of the international market.
The Frutas do Brasil project, an initiative of the Brazilian Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruits and Derivatives (Abrafrutas) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), has been one of the main drivers of this expansion. The initiative seeks to connect Brazilian producers with importers through international fairs, trade missions and promotional campaigns. Currently, fruits such as mangoes, melons, grapes and limes stand out in demanding markets in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, consolidating Brazil’s reputation as a supplier of high-quality products.
The National Supply Company of Brazil (Conab) also reinforces the optimistic outlook for 2025. According to the entity, this growth will be driven by favorable climate conditions and the expansion of the planted area, estimated at 81.4 million hectares.
In addition to expanding production, Brazil will continue to invest heavily in sustainability and traceability, ensuring international standards for exported products. The sector has also been improving logistics to reduce delivery times and ensure the freshness of fruit even when exporting over long distances, a differential that is increasingly valued by international markets.
Jorge de Souza, technical manager at Abrafrutas, said that the fruit export sector is optimistic about results in 2025, despite the tense situation in the global economy due to trade wars and tariff packages promised by many countries and economic blocs. With a harvest with enough quantity and quality of fruit on the way, opportunities should arise and exporters will be prepared to meet global demand for fruit. The sector remains attentive to climate issues and its extreme events and the logistical challenges that should impact not only fruit farming, but the movement of goods from several other segments.
With growing production, well-structured commercial strategies and a solid commitment to quality, Brazil is consolidating itself as a strategic partner for importers from all over the world. The year 2025 promises to be positive for the sector, reinforcing the country’s presence in the global fruit market and strengthening its competitiveness against other major producers.
